Start with measured paths.
The latest snapshot, 16 September 2026 at 07:06 UTC, includes Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Cairo, Riyadh and Dubai. Median probe-average RTTs range from 58.964 ms for Istanbul to 166.259 ms for Dubai. The original snapshot remains available in the run selector. Probe averages vary within a city, so inspect the individual networks, packet reception and collection limitations as well as the summary.
A nearby country can still have a longer route.
BGP routing, transit choices, peering and return paths influence round-trip time. Physical proximity does not guarantee a direct path. This sample does not establish which submarine cable carried the traffic, and it does not support claims of uniformly faster routing than Frankfurt, Athens or other hosting regions.
Use Cyprus where it fits your service.
For a multi-region SaaS product, compare user-to-server latency and server-to-database latency together. For a VPN service, test the client ISPs that will connect. For media or large transfers, measure sustained throughput as well as RTT. Place extra regions where a single location cannot meet your users’ needs.
Test reachability for VPN customers.
Commercial VPN hosting is supported subject to the Acceptable Use Policy. Reachability can change due to ISP routing or filtering outside the hosting provider’s control. A server in Cyprus does not guarantee access from a particular country, nor does it guarantee that every destination service will accept its IP address.
Compare using the same method.
Before selecting a region, test candidate servers from the same source networks and during the same period. Repeat the measurements and check the real application. Our Looking Glass is a starting point; it is not a substitute for testing from your customers’ connections.
